City Library "A.D. Xenopol"

Library building, built in secession style, was built in 1913. Arad first library was built in 1881 and 1523 contained volume. In time, with subsidies and donations, the number of books has increased. In 1931, due to increasing number of readers and the public library has moved its headquarters in Cultural Palace. The number of works in libraries has increased, an important donation was made by AD Xenopol and Vasile Goldis - 2032 volume. Since 1984, library headquarters was moved to the current building in the street Gheorghe Popa. The library currently contains 500,000 volumes.

Catholic Church and manse in Aradul-Nou
Address: Route 33 Timisorii
The church was built between 1812-1821 in Baroque style and was declared a monument of arhitectutra. The parish house was built in 1725. Initially, a shelter house Franciscan monastery and is considered the oldest house in Arad.

Lutheran Evangelic Church

The church was built in 1906 in neo-Gothic style, by architect Louis Szantay plans. This church is known as the "Red Church" (RO: Biserica Rosie) because its exterior is made of red brick surface ground. Main church tower would have a height of 46m.

Serbian Orthodox Church "St. Peter and Paul"

Church built in the early Baroque style, was built between 1698-1702. In 1790 the church was restored. Church Tower, built from slabs of blond, made rococo. In the top of the tower is a cross which was fixed on a globe.

Romanian Orthodox Church "St. John the Baptist "

The cathedral was built between 1862-1865 in Baroque style by architect Antony Gzigler plans. In 1966, the cathedral was decorated with Byzantine-style frescoes year by the painter Eremia Profeta.

Roman Catholic Cathedral

The cathedral was built between 1902-1904 in Renaissance style, the architect Emil dupa plans Tabacovics. The building is impressive by monumentalitatea columns and vaulted style that was made the main entrance. A copy of sculpurii famous "Oieta" of Michelangelo, located at the Cathedral "San Pietro" in Rome, was deasupraportii access cathedral.


Fortress of Arad
situated on the banks of the river Mures

The fortress was built between 1762-1783 by Vauban system, according to plans Austrian architect Philip Ferdinand Harsch. The building was built at the request imparatesei Maria Theresa. Built in the form of six-pointed star, the building was provided with three rows of underground pillbox and several rows of ditches. In the complex was a chapel which was built with a fortress. The main gate and inside the buildings were built in Baroque style.

Cultural Palace

was built between 1911-1913 by the architect Louis Szantay plans, at the initiative society cultural Kolecsey.From the architectural point of view, the building represents a combination of several styles: Classical, Renaissance Italian, French Gothic, Baroque and French novel. The facade is in style elective and is decorated with a bazorelief inchinat museum. Trimming interior has been restored between 1978-1980 by catrre brothers Milataller fresco and is gilded with gold spangle. Trimming the main hall is realzata style secession. The windows are genuine and are making the art-nouveau style. Painting on vault cupola represents the solar system and comet Haley. In time, Cultural Palace was the host of great artistic porsonalitati of the world: Gerog Enescu, Richard Strauss, etc.. Currently Cultural Palace hosts the State Philharmonic and The Museum of Arad.

State Theater

The building which now hosts the State Theater was built between 1872-1874 in a neoclassic style. The State Theater was established on 1 October 1948 and on 4 November 1948 was inaugurating the show. In early'60 the building was restored as had been destroyed in a fire.

The old water tower
Located at the intersection of streets and Ioan Rusu Sirianu PI Tchaikovsky Tower was built in 1896 and in 1927 was restored. The main reason for that was built is the drinking water supply town of Arad. The tower has a height of 25 m, has the appearance of a fortress and due notice window decorations and boobs.
